Day 47, Tuesday, 02/12/08

It's Tuesday morning here in 29 Palms. 70 at 8:00am. We were told to expect about a 10-15 degree temperature drop here from the Palm Springs/Indio area but other that a little welcome breeze, we see no difference. No complaints!

This RV park is decent, but not the same as Palm Springs / Indio. No grass, just blacktop, crushed gravel, and desert dust. Lots of room to walk the dogs, however, a big plus for us.

We did not go into the National Park Sunday, as planned, because something was wrong with Gracie. We did not want to leave her alone or have her "couped-up" in the car while we drove so we just enjoyed the warm day. She wasn't sick, just acting strange - very agitated and very sensitive in her tail area.

By Monday she was better and we did a 4 hour auto tour of part of the Park. It's a desert! But very interesting vegetation and rock formations. Pictures will tell some of the story.

Today, Gracie seems back to normal and we will leave them in the motor home and do a three mile hike to an oasis nearby. More about that later when we get back.

This is a Joshua tree. It is a member of the lily family. They are only found in this area. All pictures that follow were taken in the National Park unless noted otherwise.

Look out on mountain top in the Park with a view of Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Indio, and LaQuinta in the valley below. Running through this view, but not obvious, is the San Andreas Fault.

Our second night stay in Indio, pretty tight.

Ahh, looks absolutely heavenly there! I can seriously say - wish I was there, as it's been a (frigging) winter wonderland here yet again. So ready for spring! Thanks for posting the beautiful pictures! - Amanda
